Tolvi Books, bookkeeping software for practices and their clientsClients’ bookkeeping that arrives at year-end already mapped
Tolvi Books is bookkeeping software for practices and their clients: UK small businesses, with the books run by their practice or by the business itself. It has an inbox of bank lines and receipts to confirm, invoices drafted from a sentence, VAT worked out on every line, and the practice working in the same books.

For accountancy practices
The year-end TB, already there
Your practice can run Tolvi Books for clients and pay for them at a practice price, or work in the books a client already keeps there. At the year-end, Working Papers takes the trial balance from those books with no import.
What Tolvi Working Papers doesSet up Tolvi Books for a client
Start Tolvi Books for a client from Working Papers and invite the owner, or accept an invitation from a business that already uses it.
Pay for clients at a wholesale price
Your practice can pay for a client’s Tolvi Books at 30% off the list price, monthly, on your own Tolvi subscription.
The trial balance with no import
At the year end, Working Papers pulls the trial balance straight from the client’s books, already mapped, into a fixed TB version.
Every client’s books in one list
Clients’ books in Working Papers shows each linked business at a glance: entries posted, receipts waiting, VAT registration and the link’s status.
For the business owner
An inbox, not a ledger
Tolvi Books sorts what it can and asks about what it isn’t sure of. Money in and money out in plain words, with the accounting underneath when anyone asks.
Only what needs you
Tolvi Books shows you only the bank lines that still need explaining, each with a suggestion and the reason for it: the invoice or receipt it matches, a rule you set, or how you explained the same payee before.
Bring in your bank statements
Upload a statement from your bank as CSV, OFX, QFX or QIF, or Santander’s text download.
Snap the receipt. Bin the shoebox.
Take a photo of a receipt on your phone, or upload a photo or PDF.
Invoices from a sentence
Type “Invoice Hartley Weddings for the June wedding flowers, due in 14 days” and Tolvi AI drafts the invoice for you to check. Invoices are numbered in order with no gaps, sent as a PDF from Tolvi Books, and matched to the payment when it reaches your bank. Reminders are drafted for you to approve: nothing is sent without you.
VAT on every line
Each line carries its VAT code, and Tolvi Books works out your VAT return from your books: standard, cash accounting or flat rate.
How the business is doing
Home shows money in and out, profit so far this year, cash in each account, who owes you and whom you owe, and an estimate of the tax to set aside, with its working.
Your accountant, already in the books
Invite your accountant by email and choose what they can do: full bookkeeping, year-end adjustments only, or read only. They work in your books, not a copy, and every change shows who made it. You can end their access at any time, and your books stay yours when you change accountant.
Proper books underneath
Underneath the plain words is double-entry bookkeeping to the penny. Posted entries are never edited, only reversed, and every category maps to the lines your accountant uses at the year end and, for sole traders, to the self-employment pages.
Tolvi AI suggests. You decide.
It reads receipts and drafts invoices. Nothing is posted until a person confirms it or your rule applies, and your data isn’t used to train AI models.

Questions about Tolvi Books
Where do I sign in to Tolvi Books?
At app.tolvi.co.uk, the same place as the rest of Tolvi. Tolvi works out what you use and opens it, so a business goes straight to its books. If you also work at an accountancy firm on Tolvi, you can move between the two without signing in again.

Yes. Every business starts with a 30-day free trial, without a card.
How much does Tolvi Books cost?
Tolvi Books is priced per business, by what the business is: Sole trader, £10 a month; Limited company, £20 a month; VAT-registered, £25 a month. Pay annually for 15% off. AI is included within fair use, so there are no tokens to buy. Tolvi is not VAT-registered, so no VAT is added. Does Tolvi Books connect to my bank?
Not yet: bank feeds are coming next. Tolvi doesn’t have its agreement with a provider yet. Until then you upload statements from your bank as CSV, OFX, QFX or QIF files, and Tolvi Books skips any lines it already has.
Can I file my VAT return with HMRC from Tolvi Books?
Not today. Filing VAT returns with HMRC through Making Tax Digital from Tolvi Books is coming. Tolvi Books already works out your return from your books, shows the lines behind each box and checks it, so you can send the figures to HMRC another way until then.
Does the AI change my books?
No. Tolvi AI reads receipts and drafts invoices, and you check what it suggests: nothing is posted until a person confirms it or a rule you set applies. Your data isn’t used to train AI models, and the AI runs through Amazon Bedrock in AWS London.
Can my accountant use it with me?
Yes. Invite your accountant by email and choose their access: full bookkeeping, year-end adjustments only, or read only. They work in the same books, every change shows who made it, and you can end their access at any time. If their practice uses Tolvi Working Papers, they take your year-end trial balance straight from your books.
What happens to my books if I stop paying or change accountant?
Your books belong to your business. If you change accountant, you end the old practice’s access and invite the new one, and nothing moves. If your trial ends without a plan, your books become read-only: you can still see them and download your reports.
Can our practice pay for clients’ Tolvi Books?
Yes. A practice can pay for a client’s Tolvi Books at 30% off the list price, monthly, on its own Tolvi subscription, or the client can pay for itself. At the year end, Working Papers takes the trial balance straight from the client’s books, already mapped, with no import.
